Project Africa
The African project: prevention for all
Aids not only endangers the different African peoples, but also seriously threatens the establishment of constitutional states in Africa.
Since 1999, AIDS Information Switzerland (AIS) has been collaborating with partners in different Aids-prevention projects in the sub-Saharan region. Special editions of leaflets containing detailed information on Aids and its transmission have been written to be distributed in Africa. In addition, AIS helps HIV prevention in Africa by offering tests at adequate prices and, within the bounds of their means, by making available anti-retroviral regimens for the prevention of mother-to-child transmission.

Preventive messages conveyed through music
AIS has encouraged the production of a musical album (CD), which above all addresses the African audience. The musicians, coming from Congo-Kinshasa, Burundi, Angola, and Nigeria, communicate vital information, invite people to protect themselves and call for immediate political measures. In addition to the songs about HIV, which are presented in different current African languages (French, English, Kirundi, Kiswahili, Lingala, Portuguese), the CD also contains a song in Swahili calling for the demobilisation of child soldiers.
